Yes, it's pretty and yes, the kids like playing in it but it NEVER ENDS!!!!! We have the longest driveway in our entire neighborhood...one of the longer ones in our city so snow removal is a fulltime job with all the snow we've had so far this season! Peter is not sure what to think about the snow when he's so bundled up so he can hardly walk outside! He did seem to enjoy sledding down a small hill with Hannah though. It sure is pretty to watch snow fall from inside a nice warm house!!!

PPP (Precious Peter Pix!)
Okay, so I made up that acronym for the title of this post! So many people, myself included, do the FFF posts, so I made this one up for Peter since I post more pix of him than the other 4 kids put together! They do ask me once in a while why it's always Peter on here so I need to try to do a better job in 2009 with putting their faces on the blog too!! Peter has such a great imagination already and loves pretending he's on a cell phone or computer. He pretends he's eating or sleeping too! He is at such a fun age right now. So much personality in this little guy! He's very loving and affectionate too. He will come up to me and give me a kiss on the leg and take off to play again. He loves his little dolly too as you can see from this picture above! What a wonderful Christmas it was with Peter here this year. We missed him so much when he was still in Guatemala last Christmas! We are so blessed with our 5 wonderful kids!!!!

Jesus' Birthday Party!
Every year before Christmas, my sister and I get together with our "brood" to celebrate Jesus birth. We make it into a birthday party theme with games, crafts, birthday cake and gifts for each other. With 10 children between the two of us, it's too crazy getting together on Christmas day so this has evolved into a nice early celebration. The kids exchange gifts and this year they all took turns reading the bible story of Christ's birth. Grandma and Grandpa even came to the party this year! Earlier in the day, Greta was in the play "How the Grinch Tried to Steal Christmas" at our church. The picture below is of the performance. My nephew, Bobby, is in the army and just came home on leave that afternoon so he stopped in and had lunch with us! Ricky is so crazy about Bobby and has always looked up to him!! This Christmas, please remember all the military men and women who are serving our country far from home and apart from their families. They need our prayers for continued safety and support!!

Greta
Greta had a busy sports day today. She had her second hockey practice of the season this morning. She already is improving from last week! It helps when you have a great coach(her daddy!). She went right from hockey to her last basketball game of the season. Greta started out not liking b-ball at all and finished the season loving it. She really improved and learned the game more. I am personally glad we don't have 2 sports conflicting at the same times anymore. It gets to be a lot of running on Saturdays. Add to it Hannah's hockey practice and games 4 times a week and we are always on the go. Plus there's 3 other kids at home to shuttle around. Life is busy but we love it and God is so good to us!!

Decorating Christmas Cookies
The kids have enjoyed making and decorating Christmas cookies this year. I got kinda lazy about making many in the past few years as I was in a neighborhood cookie exchange. We got so many that way so I really didn't need to make many more at home. This year we didn't do the cookie exchange so once again I got to work baking. We made many favorites from my childhood including frosted gingerbread cookies. I have tried many gingerbread cookies and this is by far my favorite recipe. It makes flavorful, soft cookies. Then we frost them with a quick-hardening decorators frosting. The kids love to make all kinds of colors and it dries sort of shiny so they are so pretty and colorful on a cookie tray! I also make my yummy buttery homemade caramels each year. After I wrap each one individually and place them in a holiday bag, they make such nice gifts for teachers, friends, etc... Peter even got in on the action with decorating the cookies this year!! Ricky wasn't interested in making them but wanted his sisters to make him one that looked like a "hockey puck"!

Winter Wonderland!
BRRRRR! It's cold out today! At this time of year, we need to add an extra 10 minutes to the time it usually takes to get ready to go outside. It does help that the twins can do most of the outdoor gear themselves now but Peter still takes a while to get dressed. I have yet to take him out to play in the snow this year. He still needs winter boots and snowpants which I plan to get this next week!
We love the private setting of our home since we are tucked back from the street about 200 feet....until this time of year! Then the shoveling and snow removal from the driveway becomes a full-time job! A hot cup of tea sounds good right about now.....

Breakfast with the Grinch
We went to breakfast with the Grinch this past weekend. I was sure that Peter would be so scared of him but he eventually sat on his lap for some pictures! He really needed to study him from afar first and then finally warmed up to the idea of getting closer to the Grinch.
We continue to keep busy around our household between hockey, basketball, church activities, lots of Christmas celebrations and just the day-to-day busy-ness of a family of seven! We have at least 2 holiday parties every weekend in December up to Christmas. That starts to get a little crazy but we make it to the ones we can or I send Rich alone!! It helps that I have been done with my Chistmas shopping for weeks now! I even have all the gifts wrapped, Christmas cards mailed out and only have my baking left to do! Many people have asked me how I get shopping done so early. The answer is simple...I start shopping for the next year on December 26th! By starting early, you get great buys. I also pick up gifts throughout the entire year and tuck them away until the holidays. It does get tougher to shop for kids early when they get older as their likes change frequently. But with 3 younger ones, tons of nieces and nephews, two December birthdays, and all that we have going on all the time, I am happy to get the shopping done way before the Christmas crowds hit the shopping malls!! Now I can relax and enjoy the Christmas season!
